80s Movie Night Tradition

What type of traditions have you started with your kids? For my oldest and I, we have started a 80s movie night tradition.
One evening when she is home on the weekends, we go through our 80s movie list and choose a movie that we both want to watch. I have to admit though that I am the one normally choosing it because she’s not sure if she will like it AND since I’ve seen it before, I know if it’s suitable for her to watch.
Of course each movie night our snacks vary. We may buy a couple of pints of ice cream and eat those, we may make popcorn, or we may just snack on chips, cheese, and or pretzels.
My goal is to just create memories with her and of course to introduce her to the teenage heartthrobs of my generation. WOW, I didn’t realize how old that just made me sound!
Last week we watched the classic, “The Outsiders”. What’s funny is as we watched it, when she saw a couple of the names she recognized them! She’s watched many Tom Cruise movies with us so she knew his and since she knows my major crush in the 80s was on Patrick Swayze, she recognized his name.
Here is a list of the 80s movies that we have watched so far and that we will be watching.
I have added To Kill A Mockingbird to our list to watch. I know it’s not an 80s movie, however, I had to read the book in high school then we watched a movie. She is now having to read it in school. Once she’s done, we will watch the movie.
