Yo-Ho!!!! There’s more a feuding in The Great Smokey Mountains than just those Hatfield’s and McCoy’s. The Dawson’s and The McGraw’s are feuding over the last of the timber to be cut before The Great Smokey Mountain National Park opens. Of course each family thinks they can cut the most timber, but only one can be the winner.
My family and I recently ventured to the land of plaid, chainsaws, feuding, blue grass music and the smell of fresh cut timber at Stihl’s Lumber Jack Feud!
As you enter the competition arena you will be seated on either The Dawson’s side or The McGraw’s side, and you will cheer for them to win. Sit back, relax, and enjoy being enlightened by the Mountain Jacks bluegrass band.
The delicious aroma of dinner will overtake your senses, as the waiters start preparing to serve up a good home cooked meal.
“Cookie” the camp cook, cooks up a feast fit for a King! McGraw’s seasoned half-Chicken, Roasted Red Potatoes, fluffy home-style biscuit, lumberjack camp soup, Cookie’s fresh corn on the Cobb, followed by Dawson’s delicious dessert (which was a succulent apple turn over).
The show opens in the true American way with the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” by one of the “Lumber Jill’s”. Then you will drift back into the heritage a little deeper while watching a short clip on the history of the feud. Before you know it, you are in the middle of a logging feud! As quick as you can blink timber dogs, lumberjacks and lumber Jill’s all take over the stage to show off their talents. After each competition the winning team is awarded a cookie (a circular piece of cut timber) a lucky audience member gets to keep a cookie each time one is won.
18 competitions later including two audience members competing in a tree climbing contest, we have our winner! The Dawson’s family!
Our family loved watching the Lumberjack Feud, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a good time! The facility was spotless, and the wait staff was excellent. We have been to several shows in the Great Smokey Mountains area and this show will be one we talk about for a long time to come!
Thank you to The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud Dinner Show and Theater for the complimentary media tickets for the show! We had an amazing time!
