“Mom, we’re bored!” – time to pull out the craft supplies and whip up this adorable Pet Monster. It’s very easy and the kids can help too. Let them cut out funny faces with their own child-safe scissors, glue on googly eyes, make crazy hair with yarn and more. You can also change their shape – make them tall, short, round, triangles. The only limit is your imagination.
These make cute mini throw pillows for their bed, story time buddies, or create dozens of friendly monsters for pretend playtime.
- 2 Pieces of gray felt
- 1 Piece of pink felt
- 1 Piece of green felt
- 1 Piece of white felt
- 2 Buttons
- Hot glue gun
Step 1: Cut 2 pieces of gray felt 9 ½” x 5”.
Step 2: Cut a line of triangles from the pink felt. It should be approximately 5” long and will be the hair for your monster.
Step 3: Cut a small rectangle from the green felt for the mouth.
Step 4: From the white felt, cut out two small squares for the teeth.
Step 5: Using the hot glue, carefully glue the 2 buttons on a piece of grey felt, towards the top, for the eyes.
Step 6: Continue using hot glue to glue on the two teeth. Glue on the green mouth over the top of the teeth.
Step 7: Turn over the piece of felt with the face on it and glue the pink triangles to the top.
Step 8: Turn the face piece back over and lay it down on top of your other piece of grey felt. The face side of the felt should be facing you. Use the hot glue to glue the two pieces of felt together along the edges, but leave the bottom open.
Step 9: Fill the monster with stuffing.
Step 10: After the monster is stuffed, glue the bottom closed.
Idea! Leave out the stuffing and keep the bottom open for hand puppets.
Recommended for ages 4+ due to small parts.
