Since Maleficent II will be hitting the big screen in 2019 and considering we literally just watched the original again this past Sunday, we thought it would be fun to create a Maleficent inspired jello dessert!

One of our favorite all time Disney movies is Maleficent. I think one of the reasons that it is one of my favorites is that even though she is portrayed as a “villainess”, she really isn’t one. Her true heart is shown when she thinks Aurora won’t ever wake up again.

My kids and I love creating fun desserts around things we are doing. Whether it be watching a movie, celebrating an unique day or holiday, or just for no reason at all. As a Mom I think it’s a fun way to create kitchen memories and skills that will hopefully stay with them as they grow older and it’s a fun way to jazz up even just a normal afternoon!

Maleficent Purple Green Dessert

For the longest time I have been trying to figure out how to create jello desserts that have multiple layers. I know, I’m always late to the game, however, I just never could figure it out. Then when I saw this post for Layered Jello Desserts by Jenn at Ever After In The Woods! She made it look so easy that I knew we would have to try it! So, on a recent family vacation visiting extended family members, for our 4th of July celebration, we decided to have the kids make this festive jello dessert. They were not only a hit but so easy to make!

Even though I loved the condensed milk/gelatin middle in the jello desserts, my kids didn’t. So in our Maleficent recipe, we decided to make a few changes to adjust the taste to fit our family.

To make these simple and yummy jello desserts, all you will need is grape flavored jello, lime flavored jello, whipped cream plus some really fun dessert glasses.  I found our glasses that are in the picture at our local Salvation Army.  If you’ve never been to one, you really must check them out.  Many times, you can find totally awesome glasses like these for $.50 cents each.  They have 50% off a different colored sticker each day.  You would be amazed at some of the deals that you can find there!

Here are some really cool Maleficent items that would work great in your home while you are enjoying this Purple and Green Jello Dessert while watching the original Maleficent with your family!

Here is our recipe for Maleficent’s Purple and Green Jello Dessert inspired by Disney’s Maleficent!

Ingredients:

2 boxes of grape flavored Jello (3 oz each)

2 boxes of lime flavored Jello (3 oz each)

Boiling water and cold water according to directions on the box

Supplies:

4 large glasses

Large bowl

Directions:

Set out the glasses that you are planning to put the dessert in as well as a larger bowl for any excess jello.  For our recipe, these ingredients proved us with enough jello to make 4 glasses of jello AND enough to put aside in a large bowl for the kids to nosh on since they knew I would be taking pictures of the jello dessert glasses.

Following the directions on the jello boxes prepare ONE box at a time!  You will need to make one box, pour it into the glasses, then let it sit until the jello has set up.  Then you will make another box of the jello according to directions, layer that color on top of the one that is already set up, then repeat the process until you get the layers you desire.

For each dessert glass, for each color of the jello, I measured out 1/2 cup of jello for each layer.  Then I topped it off with whipped cream.
