This may seem like basic knowledge to many of us, but to my husband it’s not. You see he loves BIG manly subs filled with fattening ingredients which adds inches to his waist. Not a sub to my liking. I became obsessed with making sandwiches, subs, wraps, soups, salads, and stews years ago, and one day I hope to have my very own deli. See you later Subway! Of course when I make subs they all aren’t bad for you. I make veggie subs on healthy sub buns, amazing wraps, and various other kinds.
So yesterday my husband decided he wanted one of my subs. He says he could make an Italian sub like I make, but it never tastes the same. Never baby! I give him the same reply every time, it’s all in how you make it. You can’t just throw the ingredients on any way you please, or else it doesn’t taste right. So here you go.
How To Make A Meaty Italian Sub.
Turkey(I only use Sara Lee Honey Roasted Turkey Breast from the deli)
Ham(Low sodium honey ham)
Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Banana pepper and jalapeno peppers
Salt & Pepper
Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing
Place 4 slices of turkey on the bottom side of the bun. Top with 4 slices of ham, salami, pepperoni. Add the hot bacon.
Then you’ll place the sharp cheddar cheese on top of the meats. Next add your onions, banana and jalapeno peppers and swiss cheese(in that order)Top with 3 tomatoes, and lettuce.
Add a bit of yellow mustard and Italian dressing. Sprikle with salt & pepper. Take your knife to the inside so you can roll over the top bun. Cut down the center, and enjoy your yummy sub.
Serve with fries, potato chips, soup or salad and a pickle.
Trust me this is not a sub for ANYONE losing weight, or on a diet. I call this my meaty MESSY manly Italian Sub and this will be the name on the menu in my deli when I open it:)
Notes: I only use Sara Lee deli meats, Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, and French’s Mustard! I didn’t have any sandwich pepperoni so had to use regular and was out of jalapenos. We love our Mayonnaise Spatula.
Come back every Monday for a new recipe!
