Polar weather bites big time and unfortunately here in the Midwest, sometimes that polar air is downright awful. Thankfully when one thinks of Polar Bears, although freezing and ice come to mind, the thoughts change to cute white bears!
To help our thoughts stay away from the bitter temps since Winter is right around the corner, here is a recipe for Polar Bear Oreos! Because let’s face it, winter is about comfort food and just like a polar bear we want to stay warm and cozy with a full belly!
Polar Bear Oreos
Makes 24 cookies
1 package of double stuffed sandwich cookies
1 bag of chocolate candies
2 bags of white chocolate melting wafers
1 package of small edible eyes
1 cookie sheet fitted with parchment or wax paper
Using a double boiler, melt1 bag of the chocolate
Lightly separate the sandwich cookies in half, making sure that the creme stays on one half of the cookie.
Lightly push in two yellow candies
Place the other half of the sandwich cookie back on and slowly dip the top half into the melted chocolate.
Lightly shake the cookie to get excess chocolate off and place onto the cookie sheet
Repeat steps with remaining cookies
Place cookies into the fridge for 10 minutes to harden before continuing
Place the cookie into the melted chocolate, using a fork, lightly flip the cookie so that both sides get coated.
Lightly tap the side of the pot to get excess chocolate off
Place the dipped cookie onto the cookie sheet and repeat step with remaining cookies
Place a non melted wafer chip onto the lower part of the cookie for the bears nose
Dip a blue candy into the melted chocolate and place onto the non melted chip for the bears nose
Place two eyes onto the upper part of the cookies
Let cookies dry for 30 minutes before enjoying!
