If you have not heard of Alison Cayne, she is the owner of Haven’s Kitchen, a cooking school, café and private event space. She started Haven’s Kitchen as a way to teach and inspire people to enjoy and learn how to make nutritious food at home.

In her new cookbook, each chapter is based on a type of ingredient or dish. Grains and Beans, Fritters, Vegetables, Sauces, and more are included in this nine chapter cookbook. By each chapter being a specific food or ingredient it really allows her to break down how to master cooking with that ingredient.
The way this cookbook is written is easy to understand, and the recipes taste delicious! She even teaches basic knife skills, and other core techniques to really master cooking in the kitchen.
The Haven’s Kitchen Cooking School cookbook is very straightforward and it has some amazing photographs that offer step-by-step instructions, which I find very helpful! It allows you to see first hand what each step of the recipe will entail, and her directions are very easy to follow. I am the type of person who benefits from seeing photos of steps when it comes to cooking. It shows you what that step will look like!
For each recipe, she tells you everything you will need from the ingredients, style of pot or pan, to the utensils, and that makes this book very unique. If you know the pan you need that is great, but for those beginners who are unsure, it will truly come in handy.
