Tranquility and St. Armand’s Circle
On our recent Spring Break trip to Florida, we decided to take a day to visit St. Armand’s Circle and Lido Beach.
First of all, St. Armand’s Circle and the surrounding area is beautiful! It is truly a piece of paradise! One could spend hours walking around the circle, shopping, and noshing on all of the yummy foods and drinks!
We decided to dine for lunch at Tommy Bahama’s. We already knew that Tommy Bahama’s is an iconic lake and lifestyle brand so we knew it would be a great choice. Yes, it is considered a chain, however, this is a bit more of an upscale chain and since it was right there, we couldn’t say no.
The hostess greeted us and seated us promptly. Our waitress was prompt and very friendly. She asked if we had ever been to the restaurant before and we told her no so she informed us of the specials and what her recommendations were.
After she went over the menu , she took our drink orders and let us decide on our choices. Our youngest was thrilled when she saw her lemonade! She loved the umbrella and the little green monkey.
A Faux-jitia was the drink of choice for my oldest. One of the things that we appreciated about the drink menu is that they offer cool beverages that are non-alcoholic. That way everyone can enjoy a neat beverage.
My husband enjoyed a Circus City IPA, which is a local craft beer by The Big Top Brewing Company and I decided on a handcrafted Pina Colada. Isn’t this the most adorable drink ever? (By the way, it was delicious).
We were told everything at the restaurant was made fresh so we were really looking forward to our meal. After our order was placed, we received a one bite appetizer from the chef. A delectable bite of yumminess!
For our meal, my husband chose the Crispy Fish Sandwich with Fries. His meal came with a beer battered fish sandwich with honey roasted onions, and topped with island tartar and a side of fries. F chose the Pork Belly Fried Rice. Have you ever had Pork Belly Fried Rice before? None of us had. It really is a nice blend of flavors. The Fried Rice consisted of peppers, carrots, cilantro, a chili vinaigrette with shiitakes and topped with a sunny side up egg. The egg did a great job of marrying everything together.
For me, my choice was a Cuban Sandwich with Jerk Yucca Fries. This was the first time I had ever had Yucca Fries. Would I eat them again? Absolutely! They are amazing! The inside is like mashed potatoes! I could have dipped everything in that dip! My sandwich consisted of ham, house roasted pork, topped with pickles, Gruyère, and topped with Sriracha Mustard. The slaw was a very nice addition. I thought the accompanying Island Slaw was a nice touch that had a really nice bite to it.
Our youngest usually eats part of my meal as she rarely eats a full meal.
The meal was great as was the atmosphere. We would definitely dine at one of their other locations again.
When the waitress brought out our check, she also gave us a post card that we could fill out and send to whosever we’d like. That was such a neat touch! Our friends did receive the post card and called me once they got it.
If you ever had a chance to dine at Tommy Bahama’s definitely plan to! I think you will really enjoy it! Vacation should be about memories, having fun, trying new things and expanding your palate (yes and your waistline).
