Homemade Sloppy Joes

If you've never had homemade sloppy joes, then you are in for a real treat. This classic comfort food is always a family favorite and with this recipe you can this up anything your family needs a quick dinner or lunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds 80/20 hamburger
  • cup sweet onion diced
  • 1 green pepper finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons yellow prepared mustard
  • 3 cups ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

  • Brown beef in a large skillet on medium high heat.
  • Once browned add in onion, green pepper, garlic and steak seasoning. Cook 10 minutes uncovered, stirring frequently.
  • Reduce heat to simmer. Add mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and water. Simmer 20 minutes stirring every 10 minutes.
  • Toast buns in the toaster to likeness and top with sloppy Joe mixture.

Notes

This easily serves 4-6 if using ½ cup mixture. If using a half bun it will serve 8.
