½cupOrganic oatsfinely ground
1teaspoonraw honey
20 - 22dropsVanilla Essential Oil20 - 22 drops PER bar that you are making
Instructions
Preparing the Soap
Weigh the base so you make sure that you know the exact weight of the soap.
Next, cut the base of the soap in half and then re-weigh it so you know what it weighs. If you are making 6 bars, you will want 1 lb of Goat's Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base.
Next, cut the base into 1" cubes.
Preparing the Soap Ingredients
Pour the oatmeal into a food blender or food grinder and grind into a finely ground powder. Keep in mind that oatmeal is very exfoliating so the larger the oats the rougher it will be on your skin. Then set it aside.
Melting the Melt and Pour Soap Base
Add 2 cubes of the soap into a large Pyrex Measuring cup or any large glass measuring cup (I use glass so it's easier to wash).
Next put the measuring cup with the cubes into the microwave and set the timer for 30 seconds. Remove the soap, stir GENTLY with a craft stick and if the cubes haven't melted, put the soap back into the microwave and set for 10 seconds. Then stir again.
Pouring the Soap
Then add in ⅛ teaspoon of the raw honey and carefully stir with a wooden craft stick or spoon. Check the temperature of the soap and make sure it's at 140 degrees and no hotter. Then add in 20 - 22 drops of the essential oil if you are adding it in. Stir again. If your soap is starting to set up, just pop it back into the microwave for 10 seconds and it will remelt.
Pour the soap mixture into your molds. You will get ONE bar out of this. Then add in a ¼ teaspoon of the oatmeal or sprinkle some in and stir it in a craft stick.
If you are noticing bubbles at the top of the soap, lightly spritz with rubbing alcohol.
Repeat the process again with each bar of soap that you are making.
I know it seems redundant, however, I found it's easier to do it this way as it will set up quickly and if this is your first time, it will be easier to do it in small batches.
