Easy Baked Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 t. ground cinnamon
  • ½ t kosher salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 t. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup unsweetened cinnamon applesauce

Topping

  • 3 tbsp. powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare your donut pans and set them aside.
  • Combine your dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt) together in a large bowl. Mix together with a whisk until the ingredients are combined.
  • Add the wet ingredients (egg, milk, vanilla, and applesauce) into a small bowl and whisk together.
  • Combine the wet ingredients into the dry. Mix until they are just combined. DO NOT OVER MIX.
  • Add in the cinnamon.
  • Fill each cavity of the donut pan about ¾ full.
  • Bake the donuts for approximately 10 to 12 minutes or until the toothpick or cake tester comes out clean.
  • Add the cinnamon and powdered sugar into a Ziploc bag and set aside.
  • Once the donuts are cool, remove them from the pan and while they are still warm, toss each donut into the bag, or bowl if you prefer, and coat each donut with the sugar mixture.
  • Allow them to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
