Apple Crisp is one of those Fall desserts that is full of savory sweetness that once topped with vanilla ice cream is pure heaven!
One taste of this delicious dessert and you’ve won’t believe it is both gluten and refined sugar-free. The addition of fresh thyme adds a subtle savory note to the otherwise sweet flavor profile of this classic recipe.
What is the difference between apple crisp and apple crumble?
Apple CRISP is a baked fruit dessert that is topped with a crunchy, crisp, and golden brown layer. A CRUMBLE is similar but has more of a streusel-like topping.
How do you cut apples for baking?
Use a sharp knife to cut the fruit in half going directly through the core. Then slice each of the halves in half.
How do you reheat apple crisp?
Even though Apple Crisp is great at room temp, it is out of this world when it is warmed and topped with ice cream. So when you ready to warm up the crisp, pre-heat your oven to 350°F and place the dish in the oven for 25-30 minutes, until warmed through.
Should I refrigerate apple crisp?
I normally don't mainly because we eat it fairly quickly. However, you can store it in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Tip: It's best to use Granny Smith or Pink Lady apples for apple crisp. These varieties will hold up well to the heat of baking without turning to mush.
