    Get Your Home Ready For Fall With These Easy Cleaning Steps

    Soon Summer will be over and the Fall season will be upon us. Use our easy Fall Cleaning Steps, to get your house ready for Fall in no time!

    Fall Cleaning Steps

    Can you believe that Summer is almost over?  It's hard to believe that just in a few weeks it will be Fall!  I am a huge fan of the Fall season so it can't come quick enough!

    If you are a fan of Fall like I am, you will probably want to be outside and enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of Fall NOT inside cleaning your home!

    We've put together an easy Fall Cleaning Checklist, that I broke down over a couple of weeks, that will help you prepare your home for the Fall season as well as the holidays.

    Fall Cleaning Checklist

    Here are some weekly Fall Cleaning Steps that you can start NOW so that you are ready for Fall when it gets here!

    Week 1

    Windows

    • Clean blinds
    • Wash windows
    • Clean and remove the screens
    • Either dry clean your window treatments yourself or take them to a professional dry cleaning service

    Week 2

    Outside

    • Drain and put water hoses away
    • Put up storm doors/windows
    • Clean gutters
    • Put away outdoor furniture
    • Clean out pool
    • Check mulch
    • Trim plants back that need to be pruned

    Week 3

    Mechanical

    • Trim plants back that need to be pruned
    • Have fireplace/chimney cleaned
    • Change furnace filters
    • Check floor registers for toys (if you have little ones you understand why you need to do this)
    • Schedule a visit with a professional HVAC company to do maintenance on your furnace

    Week 4

    Kitchen

    • Wash down cabinets
    • Wash walls down
    • Pull out stove and clean behind it
    • Clean out the inside of the stove
    • Pull out the refrigerator, clean behind it, and vacuum the coils
    • Clean out the cabinets
    • Donate anything you haven't used in over a year
    • Clean out and organize pantry

    Week 5

    Bathrooms

    • Wash down cabinets
    • Wash down walls
    • Organize the cabinets
    • Replace worn out towels
    • Get rid of old makeup (make sure to check out our Cosmetic Expiration Chart)

    Week 6

    Living Room

    • Clean floors
    • Vacuum furniture
    • Change batteries (smoke alarms and carbon monoxide all through the house)
    • Clean the light fixtures
    • Clean walls
    • Pull furniture out
    • Dust the baseboards

    TIP: If you are short on space as well as storage in your Living Room, how about a cute storage ottoman like this?

    Week 7

    Bedrooms

    • Vacuum the mattress
    • Clean walls and the floor
    • Sweep under the bed
    • Get out the Winter bedding and wash/put away the Summer
    • Clean ceiling fans
    • Dust baseboards
    • Wash bed ruffles/pillows
    • Sort clothing and donate items not worn in over a year

    At the end of the seven (7) weeks, you will be all done with your Fall cleaning!  Of course you can combine the weeks together and get everything done faster.  It's totally up to you!
