💭Why Make this Recipe?
You should totally make this recipe because it's:
- a great way to use up your apples.
- It's a great snack any time of the day.
- it's an easy quick bread that makes the whole house smell wonderful.
- It's not overly sweet and perfect with apple cinnamon butter and a cup of coffee.
📖Variations
- Apples - besides the Granny Smith apples, you can also use Gala since they hold together under heat and with the tartness of the apples it helps cut down on the sweetness.
- Another delicious bread recipe that uses apples is my Apple Cranberry Bread.
💭Top Tips
- If you are finding that your bread is too dense, it could be anything from expired baking powder to overmixing. Of course, sometimes the weather outside can play havoc on our baked goods. The main thing is to just mix the ingredients until they are combined.
- Place a slice of the bread on a microwave safe plate and place it in the microwave for 15 seconds.
- When you grease the loaf pan with butter, sprinkle some ground cinnamon on top of the butter for an extra burst of cinnamon and flavor!
- Make sure to dice the apples really small so they cook quickly.
- Use a whisk and a spatula to stir the ingredients so you don't overmix it.
- Use a metal or steel loaf pan to get really golden-brown bread.
- Let the butter come to room temperature before you use it.
- You can use either lite or regular yogurt. It's totally up to you.
- Serve up this bread with Apple Cinnamon Butter!
Storage
To store the bread, just place it on the counter in an air-tight container.
Can You Freeze It?
Yes! You definitely can! Just wrap the whole loaf (after it's cooled) in plastic wrap, then place it in a ziploc freezer bag and place it in the freezer. It will last up to one month.
You are ready to eat it, just unthaw at room temperature and you will be good to go.
🍽Equipment
- Use a whisk and a spatula to stir the ingredients so you don't overmix it.
- Use a metal or steel loaf pan to get really golden-brown bread. I have switched all of my glass loaf pans over to these. I absolutely love how baked items and my meat loaf turns out when I use this pan.
🍎How to Make Apple Cinnamon Butter
Making this butter is SO easy! All you need is a stick of good butter that is at room temperature and this Apple Cinnamon Butter seasoning mix from Sugar Plum. Even though this is to make a butter board, which you could definitely still do, it is AMAZING with this bread!
Mix it together in a bowl and you are good to go! It's so good too just to eat with a spoon; not that I have or anything.

🍎Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread
Equipment
- Medium sized bowl
- Knife
- cutting board
- Large bowl
- Spatula
- 9" x 5" loaf pan
- Stand mixer or hand-held mixer
Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith apples peeled and chopped
- ¼ cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
- ⅛ cup white granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cup light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon separated. You will use 1 teaspoon in the batter and 1 teaspoon in the loaf pan.
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg white
- 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- ½ cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
Instructions
- Wash, dry, peel, and core your apples.
- Chop or dice them into very small pieces. Then add them into a medium-sized bowl and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 350° degrees. Then prepare your loaf pan by greasing it with your favorite nonstick spray, butter, or shortening. Then sprinkle 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon into the loaf pan.
- In a large-sized bowl, using a mixer, cream together the unsalted butter and the white granulated sugar until it's fluffy and creamy.
- To this mixture, add the light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon. Mix together. Then add in your eggs, one at a time until they are thoroughly incorporated.
- Turn off of the mixer, and add in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt. Then using a spatula, mix the ingredients together.
- Stir in the unsweetened applesauce, plain yogurt, and old-fashioned rolled oats and mix them together. Then add the apples and toss until they are incorporated.
- Pour the bread batter into the prepared pan and use a knife to level the batter.
- Bake for 60 minutes then check the bread. Depending on your oven, it may be done. Or it may need more time. Stick a cake tester into the middle of the bread. If it comes out with crumbs on it, it is done. If it comes out still wet, then place it back into the oven for 10-minute increments.
